Our Kiwi Can Lesson

Today we had Kiwi Can. Our focus for today was respect.  The games that we played today to learn how to respect were called Snap, Crackle, Pop second was So, ma, ca, lo and the last was GKQ. 

How did I show respect today? I showed respect by not calling my team mates slow or losers.

What did I enjoy? I enjoyed encouraging my team mates and them encouraging me.

What could I improve on? I could improve on training to get faster so I could win a lot more than usual.

Pools Session Trip

On Tuesday we went to Te punawai-Ora pools to have a snorkelling session. Soon as we arrived all of us put on our wet suits, masks and flippers. Soon as we got changed we got into groups of two also we grabbed one of the body boards too. We got in the pool next we had to swim head down and eyes looking forward but I got told to not put my head all the way down looking at the floor. When our session was complete we went back to school we started to get going. It was new for me because I haven't gone snorkelling before in a long time. What did I learn? I learnt a lot of things about snorkelling that I can't even name. What did you enjoy? I enjoyed learning how to dive and learning how to hold my breath while wearing a snorkel. Have you ever gone snorkelling at the Te punawai-Ora pools?  

 

KiwiCan

W.A.L.T write about an activity that we do in the morning called kiwi can.

Kiwi can is an activity that we do in the morning. Its where we play fun games down in the hall. Also we have a word that means something and we have to try show those meanings. So the word that were working on is accountability. And we also have a catch praise. The catch praise goes like this. We are honest, we are true, we take ownership for what we do. Any way These are the games we played. The first was high tide low tide next one was impossible connection last was GKQ. If your wondering what GKQ means it means General Knowledge Questions. These games were fun, hard to understand but I got use to the instructions.

What did I find challenging?   Hearing the kiwi can members ask questions and speaking. What could I improve on? I could improve on not being shy to dance around my surroundings.

My Math Task

 My Maths Task. I.A.L.T upload one of our tasks from last week or this week.

Today for our math task we worked on division and fractions. It was confusing a little but when I got into them they were very easy. 

What did you enjoy?  Do you know what division means? 

My Geometric Art.

 W.A.L.T upload our geometric art and write about it. 

This task was fun, however, it was frustrating when my hand wasn't balanced when I was trying to draw those straight lines. Here are the instructions how to make one down below.

1. Draw an animal that you like.

2. Rub out the curved lines and use a ruler to straighten them.

3. Find a black felt and outline the lines.

4. Colour the animal in with any coloured felts you want as you can see I went with light blue, black and grey.

Now your done. You can show your mum and dad or even your friends.

What did I enjoy? I enjoyed colouring it in.

What did I do well? I think I did well in drawing the straight lines.

What could I improve on? I could improve on colouring it in more.

My Comma PowerPoint.

 W.A.L.T upload a learning task from last week or today on our blogger.

 We started this task last week. The task was to make a power point, quiz or an animation about commas. Me and my partner named Dash made a power point. Here it is down below.    

What did I enjoy?  I enjoyed decorating the slide when it was complete.

What did you do well? I did well in writing the examples for our writing.

What could I improve on? I could improve on helping my team mate when he couldn't spell some complicated words.

My Basic Facts.

These are my basic facts that I have practised while I have been at my house with my mum and dad.
A few weeks ago, we started our first basic facts cards. I was on 2 times by the time but today I moved up to 6 time tables. I'm going to practice and practice until I get better. It was easier than usual but it was easy for everyone so there was nothing to be excited about. I enjoyed ticking my answers. I could have improved on practising my tables more too.

My Alim Drawing.

In tui whanau, a small group of students are in a math group called ALiM. While they are doing their ALiM work with the teacher, we do independent rotations. I enjoy doing these rotations. Some activities we do during this time is drawing, silent writing and handwriting. The handwriting task is suppose to help you write and can help you have better hand writing. These drawings below are what I have been drawing during ALiM.  We do it four times a week, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Me and my friends enjoy doing the rotations while the other group is doing their extra Math work.

 At kiwi can today I enjoyed playing a couple of games called. Traffic light, number 7 and walk clap stop jump. The games were sort of easy. My favourite game was number 7 number seven is a game where you have to say one and the person next to you says 2 then you go around in a circle till you get to seven then the person next to the person that said 7 says 1 again then it goes back around in a circle.

What I found challenging was that I couldn't hear anything that Jodecy and Sharan said.

 

My Writing Task.

W.A.L.T upload one of our writing tasks that we did last week and write about it.

This is one of my writing tasks that I did last week. We had to make a better sentence then the door slammed. It was fun but mostly hard for some people, especially me. I think I did well on making a better sentence than The door slammed. I think I could improve on getting more interesting words for my sentence. Have you ever done this kind of writing task? 

Angles

I.A.L.T upload one of my pieces of work that I did this week. I chose maths for my blog. This maths task was all about angles we had to add up degrees to make 180 I will show you an example. 100 degrees + 80 degrees is 180 degrees and you could do it a different way I will leave that to you to find out how. I enjoyed adding up the degrees. I could improve on knowing them a bit more.

A Writing Task That I Did Today.

This is one of my writing tasks for today we had to write down the name of any object it could be a food, an animal and glass or water. I chose water. I wrote it tastes like nothing, It smells stinky, mouldy, salty and fresh.

It looks transparent, see, through, ruff, smooth, dirty and clean. It makes sounds like drop, splash, splat or thump. It feels wet, silky and hard.

Matariki Star Artwork

Last week we did some artwork that represented Matariki witch is the Maori new year. This is how we did it.

1. Trace two large stars and two small stars onto A3 Paper.

2. Fill our Matariki stars with patterns that we did with pencil.

3. colour the stars with any colour you want I went with purple, dark blue and light blue.

4. glue the stars together on top of each other.

5. Next glue your star to a peace of black A3 paper.

6. out line the patterns with black felts.

7. Now cut the out line of your star now your star is ready to be shown to your family and friends.

Kiwi can

Today at our kiwi can we were learning about integrity. I enjoyed playing I enjoyed playing the games that kiwi can set up for us the games were called bad choices good choices, master tag and bandage tag.  The one thing I found challenging is not to lie when you felt that you got tagged. At the end of kiwi can. the Kiwi caners chose 3 points for our class because we didn't talk over each other and we were honest and the word we were learning about today was integrity. My Art

This is my art of a turtle we had to make a colourful background then paint over it then scrape it off when it dried and made a picture of an animal.

My Solar Panel Post.

Yesterday I read a text called Power from the Sun. This text tells you about how the sun powers solar panels, and how a school uses these to power there school. My follow up task was to create this solar panel project that I did on google drawing.

What I did well in this solar panel work is that I listed what solar panels are and what is solar power. I could have improved on more lable so that my audience understands solar panels better.

My Second Kiwi Can Lesson.

Today my second kiwi can lesson was to be patient. here are 2 examples of how you could be patient. You could wait for your turn in a line. And can wait to get chosen.

 

Space Art.

Today our blogging task was to write about our space art. I did well in the cutting and colouring part.
But I could have improved my art by not leaving some white spaces. And finally my favourite part was painting my background. I will now tell you how I did my space art.

1. You have to draw some meteorites, a rocket and maybe a U.F.O

2. Cut the pictures out.

3. Colour the pictures in with pastels and you can use any colour you want.

4. Get a big piece of paper and paint a space background using paint and colours that you think space is.

5. Glue your pictures that you drew on your back ground. Now you are done. And have you ever made space art before? Have you seen a meteor and a rocket before?

My Reading Task From This Week.

for our blogging task was to find a reading task that we did this week. This is my reading task that I did last week. Doing this was confusing because I didn't understand some of the questions. Then I researched and I found the answers to the questions I didn't get. Have you ever written something about the moon? And have you ever researched about the moons phases?

Today for our blogging task was to find a maths task from this week, upload it and write about. As you can see this picture can show you what my maths task was. I solved these problems like this 0.84 + 0.12=  then you just do 84 + 12 = 96 so the answer is going to be 0.96. Now I will give you some questions to practice at home. 0.45 + 0.48=       0.61 + 0.47 =      last one         0.89 + 0.24 =

My Reading Task From Yesterday.

This is a reading task that I did yesterday on Tuesday 9th June 2020. Our blogging task for today was to post a reading task from yesterday and make a blog post out of it. For me it was easy, hard and confusing but I got it after we did the task. We did it maybe for like half an hour. Thank you for reading my blog.

Today for reading I read a book called Cancel The Invasion after I read the book we did a word search. We had to search for words that were in the book there were only twenty four words in the word search. We worked and worked for 20/30 minutes. Next I finally finished and I came 1st too. My cousin Frances came 2nd and my friend Eric came 3rd.

Today our task was to write a short summary about a story called Bok Choy I did a good job at it If you can see this picture above that's my writing if you guessed your right. It was fun for most people such as my friends some people found it hard I wont ever say who they are some were funny some were cool we all hoped we did a good job.

Today our the activity was very easy for me and some my friends. However, some other people some times struggled but they still gave it a try.

Our reading task was to write a letter to Ah Sums family about his life in New Zealand. In my letter I talked about what he did, what does he do, where he was and what he felt like.

How I Have Felt In The Lockdown Because Of Covid-19

In the lock down it has felt scary, weird and spooky where I live is like a ghost town no one is around some cars are in the drains on the road and sometimes I freeze there and feel like something creepy is about to unfold.

Today we read a book called bok choy and had to make a hut in the story I made my hut using a game called tinkercad some other people used google drawing. In my tinkercad you can see a stone wall, 4 posts, a roof and some diamonds on top of two posts near the door way.

 

How To Use Storyboards.

  W.A.L.T  explain to others how to use storyboard.                         
 (1) Sign into storyboard.

(2) Choose a layout that means how many boxes you want in you'r storyboard.

(3) Next place some people by googling people in the box in the top right corner.

(4) How you place backgrounds you just push a button that say's scenes in the top left corner.

(5) If you want to write just press a button in the top left corner and then drag a talking cloud over and drop it in you'r box.

(6) If you want you'r picture to not be behind something like a table you could delete it then put it back in you'r box then you have it. It's in the front.

(7) If you don't want you'r people to be in the same old pose you click on them then you see a button that says edit pose you press that next it comes up with faces and some body movements.

For reading today we had to make a poster about an animal that migrates. I think a lot of other people chose wildebeests and shining cuckoos. I googled migrating animals and the animal I chose was a leatherback sea turtle because it was my favourite turtle.
